The Ammo Converter in Fallout 76 is an ammo exchange device. It turns waste ammo into special ammo points (AmmoPoints), which can then be used to purchase four types of ammo: ballistic, energy, explosive, and more.

How to use the ammo converter in Fallout 76
Once you place the ammo converter on the CAMP platform, click on the interaction button with the terminal to exchange ammo for ammo points. To do this, collect all unnecessary cartridges in your inventory, select the type and click "Sell". To buy ammo, specify the type and quantity of ammo and select "Buy".
At the moment, the ammo point limit is 100. If you accumulate a maximum of points, you will need to exchange some of them for ammo so that you can again convert unnecessary ammo into these points.
Since the Ammo Converter works without being tied to a specific player, it can be used by others as well. Thus, you can use any of the devices found in Appalachia, even if it does not belong to you.
Note: The ammo converter consists of two parts - the converter itself and the terminal. To convert cartridges, you need to interact with the terminal, since when interacting with the mechanical part of the device, only a looped animation starts.
How to get an ammo converter in Fallout 76
To obtain this device, first purchase its schematic from Mortimer in the Crater Core or from Minerva at one of her spawn points. Mortimer sells it for 1 gold bars, Minerva sells it for only 250. You can also buy an ammo converter from the Atomic Shop for 938 atoms.
After purchasing the blueprints, craft an ammo converter on the CAMP platform using five units of copper, wiring, glass, gears and steel.
Note: You can only get one ammo converter blueprint, however you can then craft an unlimited number of devices based on it.
What you need to know about the ammo converter
In the first weeks after the appearance of this device in the game, it received mostly negative reviews. Some players called it useless, while others encountered numerous bugs while using the ammo converter. However, after several patches, this device has noticeably prettier. Now no CAMP platform can do without it
Here's what's changed:
- The ammo points limit has been increased from 2 to 000.
- The user interface of the device has changed. Players now have the ability to buy and sell ammo in the same section.
- Extraterrestrial Pistol Ammo, Camera Film, Nuclear and Plasma Blocks, and String Balls still cannot be exchanged for other ammo in the Ammo Converter.
- The Ammo Converter Schematic only appears in Mortimer's inventory if you've managed to get the Friendly reputation rank from the Raider faction.
